When we arrived in Bludenz, just across the border from Switzerland, we were quite suprised to find a monk and nun festival in full swing. They had come from all over central Europe to set up stalls selling "medicinal" spirits and to play rock music... so we stuck arround for the day!
The lure of the mountains was too great, so 1000m of ascent and 32 switchback turns later we arrived at the Silvretta pass. Sadly the weather was distinctly Scottish so we could not see anything!
The weather did clear for long enough to take this photo:
Determined to get a decent view, we camped for two nights and awoke on the second to a stunning temperature inversion and frost on our tent.
Needless to say the ride back down the other side was worth the wait!!!
Wow!
ReplyDeleteAnd you look so happy, Helen, on the fondue photo.
This is better than David Attenburgh.
