About Us

In our normal lives Ed is a teacher and Helen is a geneticist. Last year, Helen finished her PhD, so we decided it was the best time to set off on a long dreamed of trip to China by bike. Ed reluctantly gave up a great job, but as he put it: "It's about time I went to see some of the places I teach about". In the end, we reached China and cycled over 15500 km. We are now back in the UK. Thank you to all the wonderful people who looked after us on our trip. We often felt humbled by the kindness of strangers.

All packed and ready to go... we think!?

... was there any doubt?! And we still had enough room for food to keep us going over the first few days (after we stripped out a few things that is!).
Well, that's our home for the next year layed out before us. We set off tomorrow morning for an arduous journey along a totally flat canal tow-path to rough it at my brothers house in the country just outside Edinburgh... well, we have to ease in gently!

  1. I'll be following you on Twitter with interest (even if no-one else seems to be!) - Enjoy the flat bits while they last :)
