We arrived into Bratislava just as they lost 2:0 to Slovenia in the football! Our xenophobic guidebook had suggested that we would be arriving into a drab, dangerous hell-hole with unhelpful locals, but nothing could have been further from the truth! A beautiful, lively city, with people stopping us in the streets to ask us about our trip and help us find a place to stay. It was a shame that we had to move on after just one evening.

Vienna and Slovakia
We spent a lovely couple of days exploring Vienna with Bev...so lovely in fact that we forgot to take any photos! But just to prove that we were there with her (also check out her photos on facebook- you were meant to email them to us Bev !)...
The perfect weather finaly broke as we left Vienna with James, a fellow cyclist who we met in the hostel. It was a bit of a faff leaving Vienna, but lovely riding on perfect cycle paths led us into Slovakia. We only met one other cyclist that day: a sure sign that the season is ending and the popular stretch of the Danube route is over. We all shared a cup of tea together somewhere on the longest straight road I have ever seen!

The weather improved a bit as we left, but it was still very cold as we arrived into Hungary. James managed to take this rather arty photo of us at the border... by accident.
